A graduate of the University of Florida College of Law, Ted Doran oversees the firm of Doran, Sims, Wolfe & Ciocchetti as managing partner. Over the course of his more than 30 years as a lawyer, Ted Doran has successfully tried numerous cases, including a 2013 case in which he won the State of Florida $15 million.
In November 2013, the First District Court of Appeal in Tallahassee upheld a $15 million judgment against BB&T bank in a case involving approximately $12.5 million in certificates of deposit (CDs) from two insurance companies with common owners. Mr. Doran’s firm originally won the case in June 2012, and the resulting award marked the third-biggest award for Florida’s receiver.
The firm had previously won one of the state’s largest awards in a $17 million judgment against the Doctors’ Company in 2005. After attorneys’ fees and costs, the judgment rose to more than $20 million.
